We’ve been a little slower on the posting, I’ve been away traveling a little and taking a break and Rose has been swamped at work. We lead very fair lives…
Let’s flashback to almost an era ago to New York. On our second night in town, overwhelmed by endless choices, we decided to go to an old favorite, BLT. We started the night with a few cocktails waiting for our table.
As soon as the table was our, their infamous bread pops were served up.
As we picked our way through the menu, ordering much to much, we sipped on a french mojito and a “remedy” a concoction of reserve, punt e mes, maraschino, and orange bitters.
While I sipped on the cocktails, Rose snacked on the pops; popping one after the other into her mouth.
Our half a dozen east & west coast oysters arrived, some of the freshest oysters I have ever tasted. Cold, refreshing and tasty we considered ordering “another!”
The arrival of our tuna tartare halted another round of oysters. Each time we’ve been at BLT we order the tuna tartare and without fail, it is always delicious. The creamy avocado, with the salty soy sauce served up on an icy bed.
As we finished up our starters, I finished up my cocktail and ordered a good ol’ favorite, an amaretto sour. Sweet, sour and fruity, it’s always a good choice.
We ordered plenty of mains and sides, truffle mash, mixed wild mushroom.
For my mains I went big, a whole main lobster all to myself, and I ate every last bit of it.
A good sized hunk of 28 days dried Porterhouse meat for Rose.
After having eaten enough for a whole family, we decided to have a little something for the ride home, some dessert.
The peanut butter chocolate tart with a chocolate ganache topped with vanilla ice cream.
And this beast of a monster of an ice cream sundae.
This face says it all.
Now I’m off to digest!
